It’s got to be Wool

When it comes to carpets, wool is our go-to. Why you ask? Wool is sustainable, highly durable and naturally stain-resistant. It’s hard-wearing due to its natural built-in memory, which causes it to bounce back into position when compressed. Wool also stays warm in Winter yet cool in Summer making it comfortable to live with all year round. With its natural hypoallergenic properties, wool is also considered the best option for allergy and asthma prevention. It’s easy to see why wool gets our vote.

Variation

If you’ve ever lived in a home where the carpet was a plain block colour, then you would know firsthand how these types of carpets show up with every bit of dirt. The best way to prevent this is by introducing subtle variations in the colour of the yarn.

A heathered yarn is a yarn composed of various colours which are blended together, resulting in a beautiful subtly varied palette and a natural look. It adds another dimension to the carpet and helps make dirt and rubbish more difficult to see. Carpets composed of heathered yarn get a big tick from us, as they look beautiful, are practical and easy to live with. Tick, tick, tick!

Texture

A loop pile is when the carpet fibre has a looped finish. Loop piles are one of the best options for avoiding tracking from footprints and vacuuming, as they are extremely durable and tend not to flatten easily.

There is a range of looped variations which also have the added benefit of increased texture due to their uneven surface, such as the beautiful Cavalier Bremworth ‘Untouched’ range seen below.

New Release

We love it when Cavalier Bremworth releases a brand new range that ticks all of our ‘ideal carpet’ boxes. And they are not disappointed with the release of the stunning new ‘Ripples’ range. This chunky loop pile carpet is made from felted wool and is available in 6 colours. The texture-rich patterns and use of felted wool result in a soft and luxurious carpet. As with all of their carpets, Ripples is made in New Zealand from 100% pure New Zealand wool.
